| "Safe
natural herb from China can trim cholesterol and lower blood pressure"
|
| |
| Jiaogulan
has been used in China as a vegetable and as a tea for many centuries.
No other single herb has been researched so thoroughly in China, as
Jiaogulan. It is safe for long-term continuous use. |
| |
| Studies
have now verified that Jiaogulan is remarkably helpful for weight-loss.
It lowers cholesterol, blocks cholesterol, blocks the body's conversion
of sugar into stored fat, boosts the immune system and is wondrously
soothing to the nervous system. |
| |
| In
a healthy liver, sugar is stored as glycogen or sent directly to the
muscles, brain and body organs to be used as energy. In an unhealthy
liver, sugar is converted to triglycerides and stored as fat. Jiaogulan
has been shown to dramatically inhibit the unfit body's tendency to
store sugar as fat. Jiaogulan also helps to increase fat metabolism,
which brings about natural weight loss. |
| |
| Jiaogulan
(Gynostemma pentaphyllum) is a powerful Chinese herb whose efficacy
is supported by over 15 years of clinical research throughout China
and Japan. Although somewhat new to the United Kingdom, this herb
has been in use in China for centuries as a culinary botanical and
a tea. More recently, it has gained recognition as an adaptogen due
to its unique ability to assist homeostasis, or balance, through regulatory
effects on various body systems. |
| |
| The
active contents in Jiaogulan are compounds called gypenosides, which
have a similar structure to the ginsenosides found in ginseng. Both
of these constituents belong to the larger family of compounds known
as saponins. Jiaogulan contains a far higher concentration of saponins
than does Ginseng, resulting in highly potent pharmacological actions.
|
| |
| The
American journal of Chinese Medicine published a study examining the
effects of this herb on the immune system, using an animal model.
The results suggested that Jiaogulan preserved immune function by
stimulating an increase in the production of white blood cells. Additionally,
researchers at Shanghai Medical University discovered that Jiaogulan
provided some immune protection to patients receiving radiation and
chemotherapy treatment. |
| |
| Jiaogulan
may have cholesterol-lowering effects as well. Gypenoside were found
to reduce blood levels of triglycerides (fatty compounds involved
in the synthesis of cholesterol) resulting in a decrease in overall
cholesterol. Furthermore, as Jiaogulan helps to lower "bad" cholesterol
(LDL) levels, it also helps to raise those of the "good" cholesterol
(HDL). |
| |
| Finally,
Jiaogulan has also been shown to protect the cardiovascular system
through its effects on platelets which are the components in blood
that bind or stick together to form clots. Platelets can be dangerous
if they attach to the rough surface of plaques and increase the blockage
of arteries or if they plug narrow vessels. Plaques can restrict blood
flow, resulting in high blood pressure. In-vitro and in-vivo experiments
revealed that Jiaogulan effectively blocked platelet aggregation,
thereby decreasing the risk of plaque formation in the blood vessels. |
