Controlling
cholesterol (with proper diet) before the onset of CVD is, of course,
the best approach. A low-fat, low cholesterol diet, along with exercise
and stress reduction, will decrease plaque deposits gradually. However,
some herbal supplementation has been shown to have remarkable effects
on cholesterol reduction.

| |
| We
know that in many underdeveloped countries, where people still live
on a more natural diet, with less or no read meat, there is a much
lower incidence of CVD. |
| |
| Making
these lifestyle changes can be "easier said than done." The period
of changing behaviour patterns can be difficult. This is where the
herbs can help. Jagulana C fights CVD directly and indirectly. Being
an adaptogenic herbal tonic, it gives support to the body during stress
of change, that is, it helps us adapt. That's indirect help. Jagulana
C contains 3 powerful antioxidants, Jiaogulan, Dan Shen and Ginkgo
biloba in a liquid base of kiwifruit. Together these four ingredients
act particularly strongly as a result of their synergistic combination.

Free radical damage to cholesterol carrying LDL is believed to be
part of the atherosclerotic process and the antioxidant effects of
these herbs are believed to prevent build up of plaques. |
| |
| Jiaogulan: |
in
terms of an antioxidant, Jiaogulan increases the synthesis of superoxide
dismutase (SOD), our body's most important antioxidant, which scavenges
excessive free radicals. |

|
| Kiwi
fruit juice: |
This
is rich in vitamins C and E, which capture free radicals and neutralises
them. |
| |
|
| Dan
Shen: |
This
herb clears out free radicals and MDA, a toxic destroyer of cell membranes. |
| |
|
| Ginkgo
Biloba: |
This
is a strong antioxidant. It is an anticoagulant herb that helps prevent
formation of blood clots. Blood clots may block blood vessels which
have become narrowed through atherosclerotic deposits. It improves
the microcirculation of blood to the body, two very important actions
that decrease the risks of cardiovascular disease. |
